Sis. Virginia Elmira Huffman 1921- 2008

Virginia Elmira (Fannon) Huffman was born on March 17, 1921 to George Clay and Naomi Lee (Moreland) Fannon in St. Louis, Missouri.  She departed from this life on March 3, 2008 in Rolla, Missouri.

She is survived by daughters Naomi Whitehead of Vichy, Missouri; Mary Woods of Rolla, MO; Joanna Tyler of Rolla; Lois Wilson of Vichy and Eunice Martin of Baxley, Georgia. Her Son-in-laws George Colgrove of Fenton, MO; Glen Woods of Rolla; William (Bill) Wilson of Vichy and Garland Martin of Baxley, Georgia and one daughter-in-law Mary Jane McDougle of Texas and one sister, Erma Gude of St. Louis, Missouri.

Grandchildren: Lydia Torres, Mary Beth Campbell, Sarah Ingram, Esther Bell, Mark Colgrove, Malinda Dowling, Tabitha Gill, Phillip Woods, Jon Woods, Clarence (Steven) Huffman, Danny Tyler, Jennifer Frank, Rebecca Smith, Beth Ann Gulley, Greg Gulley, Rachel Morris and Amanda Bolme.

Great-grandchildren:  Nathan, Samuel, Melissa, and Heather Brown; Adam, Aaron and Barak Campbell; Laura and Lanna Ingram; Brandon, Harlee and Alexa Bell; Jordan, Reagan, Dennis & Corrine Dowling; Jeremiah, Elijah, Ezekiel and Virginia Gill; Chris Bell, Megan and Andrew Woods; Guiliana, Leah, Natalie and Weston Woods; Nicole Tyler; Brian and Nathan Frank; Steven Smith and Gregg Gulley; Sabrina and Seth Morris; Kai Bolme and also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Clarence Sylvester Huffman; sisters, Lenna Corrine Fannon, Georgia Moreland and Audrey Housewright; one son, Clarence Elias Huffman; one daughter, Dorcas Ruth Colgrove; and one grandson, Andrew Michael Woods.

Visitation will be at Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri on Saturday, March 8th from 6 to 8 pm.

A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at the Vichy Campground Church of God on March 9th at 10:00 am with Brother Clarence Campbell officiating.  Interment will follow at the Macedonia Cemetery.

Sis. Dorcas Colgrove 1942 - 2007

            Dorcas R. Colgrove, age 65, of Fenton, Mo., formerly of Vichy, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kirkwood, Mo.

            She was a longtime resident of Springfield, IL.

            She was born April 18, 1942, in Vichy, Mo., the daughter of Clarence and Virginia (Fannon) Huffman.  Dorcas graduated from Rolla High School in 1960.

            She was employed at the Rolla office of the U. S. G. S. from 1961 to 1968.  On June 3, 1966 she married George A. Colgrove and they were later blessed with two children.

            Upon Mr. Colgrove’s graduation from U. M. R. in 1969 they moved to Springfield, IL where he was employed by Sangamon Electric and then CIPS.  Mrs. Colgrove worked many years as a floral designer for Flowers Le Grande.

            Dorcas was a lifelong member of the Vichy Campground Church of God.  She greatly enjoyed playing guitar and singing gospel music.  Over the years, she created cakes and floral arrangements for many weddings and celebrations.

            She is survived by her husband, George, of the home; son and daughter in law, Mark and Ann Colgrove of Ashland, Mo.; daughter and son-in-law, Malinda and Andrew Dowling, of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, Jordan, Reagan, Dennis and Corinne Dowling; mother, Virginia Huffman of Vichy; five sisters, Naomi Whitehead, of Vichy, Mary Woods, of Rolla, Joanna Tyler, also of Rolla, Lois Wilson, of Vichy, and Eunice Martin, of Baxley, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews, other extended family members, and many dear friends.

            She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Clarence E. Huffman.

            Funeral services for Dorcas Colgrove will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2007 at the Vichy Campground Church of God with Brother Clarence Campbell officiating.  Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery.

            A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 at the Null & Son Funeral Home.

            All arrangements are under the direction of the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla.

Claude Overbay 1913 - 2007

Claude Elbert Overbay, age 93, of Connelly Springs Road, Granite Falls, went to be with his Lord on Monday, August 27, 2007 at his residence. He was born November 29, 1913 in Adkins, Virginia to the late Junius and Callie Spencer Overbay. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Erwood and Leler Patterson; a son-in-law, Arthur January; a great-grandson, James Claude January and great-grandchildren, Nicholas Overbay and Tyler Overbay. Mr. Overbay retired after twenty-three years at Broyhill as superintendent of Harper Furniture and then as Process Engineer at the Broyhill Corporate Office. After retirement, he served eighteen years as the pastor of Altapass Church of God near Spruce Pine. Mr. Overbay had a heart for missions. He supported many missions and traveled to Haiti, India, Grand Cayman and Cuba. Survivors include his wife of seventy-two years, Mrs. Ella Mae Gillespie Overbay of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Trillian (Tillie) S. January; three sons, T.J. Overbay and wife, Lillian of Concord, Alfred Overbay and wife, Shirley of Boone and Larry Overbay and wife, Carole of Lenoir; a sister, Mrs. O’Dessa Robinette of Adkins, Va.; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Mr. Overbay’s life will be held Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Ronald Leasure, Rev. Hoyt Runion and Rev. Mike Spicer. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be: David January, Matthew January, Greg Overbay, Mike Overbay, Adam Overbay and Brent Morgan. Bro. David Wymon Skaggs 1938-2007

David W. Skaggs, of Rolla, Missouri passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at the age of 68 years, 6 months, and 28 days.  He was born December 20, 1938 in Vichy Missouri to William E. Skaggs and Elaine (Holman) Skaggs.

David was preceded in death by his father, and one daughter, Tina Skaggs.

Survivors include wife Mary Ann Skaggss, of Rolla; mother Elaine Skaggs, of St. James; daughter Gina Woods, and husband Jon, of Rolla; son William Skaggs, and wife April of Hurley, Mississippi; daughter Mariana Buti, and husband Don, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; brother Ed Skaggs, and wife Brenda, of St. James; sister Alice Hart, and husband Gene, of St. James; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  David Wymon Skaggs will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation was held Thursday, July 19, 2007 at the James and Gahr Chapel, Rolla.  Funeral services for David Skaggs was held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Vichy Campground Church of God, with Bro. Clarence Campbell and Bro. Harold Taylor officiating.  Interment was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
